The regional branch of Fulcrum Lifting, Kentucky Wire Rope and Supply, provided a custom Caldwell lift with a capacity of 1 ton for processing rubber turf mats.

Fulcrum, a distributor of Caldwell products, delivered the 48-inch x 96-inch “pallet” to the utility contractor, who placed the mat on the lawn so that the factory and machinery would not damage the customer’s lawn and property during work. This product can be used with forklifts or truck cranes and is mainly used for cushion storage and transportation.

The (yellow) product manufactured by Caldwell is combined with the 1-inch tie-down device manufactured by Kentucky to prevent the mat from moving on the trailer.

The combined solution helps to speed up loading and unloading while improving safety due to reduced manual handling. According to the requirements of the project or daily work, multiple mats are stacked on top of each other.

When customers require hook equipment that meets the ASME B30.20-2018 standard (refer to the BTH-1-2017 design code), Kentucky Wire Rope and Supply most often cooperates with Caldwell.

Kentuckiana product expert Tim Coombs said that many end users do not recognize that manufacturers must meet the BTH-1 design code in order to meet the ASME B30.20 standard. ASME recently released a new specification of B30.20, dated 2018, while BTH-1 was released a year ago.

"This item may be a one-time purchase, but the unit will be used every day as needed. The customer saw a lightweight system made of angle iron in the catalog, which was designed for forklifts. They wanted to be able to work with forklifts and truck cranes The material pallet used. This means we have to add lifting points. Alternative, less profitable solutions include using wooden pallets and manually loading and unloading the mats," said Combs.

"The start of the year is strong and encouraging. We have recently seen an increase in requests and hope that this situation will continue. Like most companies, 2020 is a challenge. Fulcrum has done a great job in handling smaller requests. Good. Many clients have put larger projects on hold, but have begun to see these projects come back in the past few months."
