MADISON — The Illinois State Police, the Illinois Department of Transportation and World Wide Technology Raceway have announced several traffic and travel impacts associated with the Enjoy Illinois 300 NASCAR Cup Series Race weekend June 3-5.

People planning to attend any of the events at the Madison raceway should note several traffic and parking changes are being implemented. Directions on the best route for each parking location will be included with each parking pass for the WWTR events. The information also can be found on the track’s website at https://wwtraceway.com/ and will be shared with multiple mapping applications to help guide motorists to the proper access points.

To ensure the smoothest event access, motorists are asked to follow the directions, signage near the track and law enforcement on site.

IDOT, WWTR and state police also are advising people that public transportation is an option for events on June 4-5. A free shuttle will be provided from the Emerson Park multi-modal facility in East St. Louis. Lyft, Uber, taxi and public drop off/pick up is designated at the Gateway Golf Course just north of the track. Again, signage will be in place to help guide drivers to the drop off/pick up site.

For motorists traveling near the raceway, traffic congestion and roadway restrictions should be expected between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. on June 4-5 along Interstates 55/70, Illinois 203 and Collinsville Road. Southbound Illinois 203 will be closed to through-traffic between Bend Road and I-55/70; motorists must display a Parking Pass or Credential to travel between Bend Road and I-55/70 on southbound Illinois 203 during that period.

Officials said that, based upon traffic volume, other restrictions also will be implemented throughout each day that could impact roadways around WWTR, including a lane reduction on westbound I-55/70 at the conclusion of races each day.

Motorists should expect occasional delays and allow extra time for trips through the area, officials said. Those who can are encouraged to avoid the event area or, when feasible, consider using alternate routes.

Drivers also are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and signs; obey the posted speed limits; refrain from using mobile devices; and be alert for police, workers, pedestrians and equipment.
