Austrian company Elmet will participate in Fakuma 2021 as a one-stop supplier of the entire field of injection-molded two-component liquid silicone rubber (LSR).
At the core of Elmet at Fakuma is the new Smartmix TOP 7000 Pro dosing system, which sets new standards in terms of functionality, process reliability and user convenience. The exhibition will also exhibit the company’s newly developed fully electric Smartshot E cold runner system, which has a servo-motor-driven needle to maximize flexibility, precision and control when injecting LSR into the cavity. sex.
As a comprehensive update of the previous top model TOP 5000 P, the new Smartmix TOP 7000 Pro covers an area of only 1150x790 mm, making it the most compact of all commercially available dosing systems suitable for 200-liter steel drums. The completely remodeled pump set is further simplified and the number of parts is reduced. Although capable of operating at pressures up to 210 bar, the slim design of the new device makes it more compact. At the same time, this means that there is a smaller amount of LSR in the system, which further improves process reliability and reduces the amount of purge. The reduction in the number of parts facilitates cleaning and maintenance, while the reduction in the number of seals and the selection of optimized, FDA-compliant sealing materials reduce downtime.
The fully automatic detection of the driven plate and the position of the plate now eliminates operational errors during roller replacement and minimizes the corresponding processing time. The optimized and recently patented follower plate design makes the material utilization rate up to 99.6%, thus making Smartmix TOP 7000 Pro more economical than earlier systems. The full-surface skateboard replaces the slide rail, which is convenient for drum change and can be performed from three sides. The updated operator interface with a clearer structure also supports more reliable system operation. The fixed, more accessible location of the material outlet further improves process reliability. The outlet is separated from the pump unit, thereby reducing the load on the hose leading to the injection unit.
The increased modular structure of the new dosing system ensures a high degree of flexibility in adapting to changing requirements. Thanks to the new interface board, many different options within the metering technology range can also be retrofitted after delivery without the need to reconnect the system. In response to the customer's request for flexibility in choosing the installation location, wheels can now be optionally installed.
Another available option is the Advanced Connectivity Pack, which ensures global access to the system through a web portal or related applications. In addition, it is possible to directly initiate a support request containing a status report from the system, which helps the support team to perform remote assistance. The integrated e-mail function means that users can keep up to date on upcoming roller replacement and maintenance work and any malfunctions.
Another new product at the show will be Elmet's Smartshot E valve gate cold runner system, in which the needle is moved and positioned by a particularly compact servo motor. This allows the needle opening to be adjusted in the µm range, so the injection process of up to 16 cavities can be balanced with higher accuracy than previous pneumatic or stepper motor-driven versions. Other advantages of Smartshot E technology include the smallest nesting pitch of 44 mm, the use of almost wear-free miniature industrial connectors, and optimized cable management. The cable guide can be removed as a single component without the need for a qualified electrician.
