PHOENIX-Officials at Sky Harbor International in Phoenix expect that with the surge in travel during the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be heavy traffic throughout Wednesday.

"As always, travelers should give themselves extra time, especially today, and check with the airlines about their flight status before arriving at the airport," Sky Harbor spokesperson Heather Sherbruck said in a press release .

Shelbrack said the driver picking up passengers should be prepared for the particularly long delay from 6pm to 11pm.

One way to avoid reversing is to use the PHX light rail station located on 44th Street and Washington Street to get on or off.

The station offers free cell phone waiting areas, short-term parking meters, and convenient trains to terminals 3 and 4.

The travel reminder page of the airport stated that due to high demand and physical distance requirements, it is expected that the waiting time for the shuttle bus to the car rental center will be extended.

If you plan to park your car at the airport during your trip, you can get real-time information about the availability of parking spaces online or by calling 602-273-4545.
